The state of Colorado has been caught off guard by the unexpectedly high demand for sports betting certificates. To address this, the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission has organized a special meeting to approve additional licenses.

At the upcoming meeting on Thursday, March 5, a wider range of betting users could potentially seek licenses. If approved, this could pave the way for their operations to commence on May 1.

Information about the unique certificate acceptance meeting

The conference hosted by the commission is scheduled to commence at 9:15 a.m. MST on Thursday. While it is expected to be open to the public, most committee members will participate remotely via phone.

At Golden, attendees do have the chance to witness the approval or rejection of three extra learn licenses, three operator licenses, and two vendor license applications. One of the operator license applications includes a company that Coloradans should be well-acquainted with.

DraftKings is currently pursuing vendor licenses in Colorado to establish both online and retail sports betting in the state. This opportunity arises from their partnership with Twin River Entertainment.

On Thursday, the payment might additionally consider the situations of three casinos that have requested master licenses.

Lady Luck Casino Black Hawk, dba CCSC / Blackhawk Inc.

  • Isle Casino Hotel, also known as Black Hawk Isle of Capri LLC.
  • Ameristar Casino Black Hawk LLC, doing business as dba.

Score Digital Sports Ventures is the other party seeking an operator license. They are the company behind theScore Bet, which already holds an access deal for Colorado.

There are two vendors, Global Payment Systems (GPS) and Score Media Ventures, competing for certificates. GPS is a company specialized in payment processing, whereas Score Media Ventures is the internet division of Score Digital Sports Ventures, which is part of the same business.

Following an opportunity for public input, the meeting will conclude. Despite DraftKings and the three games possibly celebrating on this day, the conference holds greater importance beyond the potential approval of those licenses.

What the payment and ’s activities in this situation mean

The commission made a commitment to assist operators in their preparations for a May Day launch and has successfully upheld that promise thus far.

The state not only granted its initial seven licenses less than a fortnight ago, but it also completed the regulations for sports betting. The fact that the commission members are convening again on such short notice, with most participating remotely, serves as additional evidence of their dedication to their promises.

Coloradans can expect even more assurance that, at the minimum, certain casinos will commence accepting bets on May 1, thereby overcoming the current restriction imposed by Colorado regulations.

Furthermore, the likelihood of launching both online and physical sportsbooks on May Day is heightened due to the potential approval of controller and merchant licenses by the state on Thursday. If DraftKings and Report Digital are granted approval, the remaining part of this quarter and the entirety of April should provide sufficient time for their preparation.

The upcoming launch of this platform, which is becoming more and more similar to legitimate sportsbooks, is great news for Avalanche and Nuggets fans who want to make bets. It will be available just in time for the NHL and NBA finals.
