Gaming Towns Pursue Clearance To Reopen Colorado Casinos

Colorado games are edging closer to reopening for the general public after years of distress.

Before customers can play the slots or card games once again, the state and company leaders of Colorado’s three gaming towns must acquire a variability or exemption from the safer-at-home restrictions. The final decision on this matter will be determined by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).

Ian Dickson, an established representative of CDPHE, is currently investigating the inconsistency at the state level in the Gilpin and Teller regions.

Dickson stated that they will continue to collaborate with counties to develop the schedule for gaming activities. Since gaming is not a statewide activity, they expect that most of the action will take place at the county level. County governments may be able to address this issue through the discrepancy process, similar to what Teller and Gilpin areas are already doing.

Gilpin County is home to the cities of Black Hawk and Central City, whereas Cripple Creek is situated in Teller County.

Colorado sport criteria for a change

Counties requesting a variance can submit an application certifying their compliance with the following specifications, as stated by the CDPHE & site.

The CDPHE rejected Teller County’s request to resume bars and betting in the state in their variation request submitted the next month. However, they did grant permission for cafes, health facilities, movie theaters, and places of worship to open, as long as they meet specific health requirements.

“Do we have increased spacing between things? Are we implementing a practice of leaving an empty chair between customers? Are we offering gloves and masks to customers? How would all of these measures be implemented?” O’Keefe inquired during a discussion with PlayinColorado in May.

Colorado casinos receive economic blow

Poland’s gambling towns have experienced a severe economic setback as a result of the government’s decision to close casinos on March 17th.

Senior financial analyst Cary Walker from public accounting firm RubinBrown estimated in late May that Colorado casinos had incurred a revenue loss of $100 million by the end of April. Additionally, Walker stated that this loss was a result of collaboration between liberal and conservative functions.
